Summer Trend 2k13: Masks (Singapore Haze)

So, I am home!

But then I wasted my first week home by sleeping and staying inside because I couldn't go outside at all these past few days.

If you have been watching or reading the news, you know that Singapore has been hazed for a week (not just on Tuesdays). It's been pretty bad, this afternoon the pollutant standard index went up to over 400. The sky has been looking like this: (can you see anything?)

But then once in a while, you need to come out of the house and buy supplies. So I did go out for like an hour or something. But then again you need to protect yourself, right? So mask-time, it is.

Yep, a lot of people were wearing one which is really really good because I feel less weird. So, yeah, that's my first week of break back home having fun in haze. Whoop whoop! Other great things would be that I've been eating healthy food, home-cooked, delicious food outside for cheap price, eating lots of snacks (I love food what can I say). I've also been cuddlin a lot with my ukulele and my guitar which is the best. Also been watching Daria (my favorite girl of all time)

Hope you guys have fun in your summer or winter!

Day 1

Day 1 - Seven things that crosses your mind a lot.

Why people do what people do
I like to find that out, what justify people's action, what causes reaction, why some things are okay to do for some people or in some culture and some things aren't.

University
I'm going to one next year, and to be honest I don't know whether I should be excited, happy or nervous and scared, or all at once.

My family
The last time we got together was 3-4 years ago when my uncle got married, and some members couldn't come for important reasons. I would love to get together with everyone sometime soon.

My friends
Some of my best friends are now all over the country and the world and I can't see them everyday. And I miss them so much. It's a good thing I guess that I handle it better now than I was 3 years ago.

Music
I would love to do more of this forever. But I know I'm not oh-so-wonderfully-amazing at this, so yeah..

Memories from school
Especially the ones that I went through at home. I learnt a lot from them, I miss them. Sometimes, I become really mean and wish that I could redo everything all over again because now what I love and cherish are just memories. It wasn't perfect but that made it beautiful. It was special and full of special people and I met the ones I want to be with forever in my life if I have the chance.

Things I should've said or done but I didn't
I just couldn't help it. I do this all the time.

Oh wow, I don't think I'm aware of these until I write it down for the world to see..

MRT Artwork!

Since it's winter in the northern hemisphere, now is the rainy season of tropical countries. So it has been raining a lot this whole month in Singapore and Indonesia.

Usually, rainy season is also the season of sickness because it's damp, cold, but sometimes it's still hot and it's changing throughout the season. The most common thing to catch is a cold, and flu which is pretty much the same thing. Both of those start with...

Sneezes. And, apparently it caught the attention of the government too!

They've started to put artworks in MRT trains to raise awareness about using tissue, handkerchief or covering your own mouth when you sneeze. *yay*

*Look! Germs! It's from your hand when you sneeze! To the handrail! TO OTHER PEOPLE'S HAND!*

Pretty cute, eh? It's cool to have colors and pictures in the train (since the last time I saw after IKEA was about depression -_-)

That's it for now, I'll try and search for some other artwork when I found one! :)

Sunday Morning, No Rain Was Falling

Hi! So, I don't know, I think I'll do like OOTD or something? No, this is not like a proper OOTD, because I know nothing about fashion! I'm just gonna put a pic of myself that I took on Sunday, pathetically, in a small road on this view mirror. Don't judge me guys, please don't :P

Yeah, my body is pretty distorted ahahahahaha but whatever so, I was wearing:

  • Blue Shirt (it actually has white vertical stripes that you can't see)
  • Dark Blue (almost grey) skinny jeans with washed out effect along the thighs and knees that I've had for 6 years-ish :)
  • Pair of black wedges (short heels)
  • And I'm holding a wallet from my sister, Pamela.
That's it guys for now, see you when I see you!

*I'm sorry I'm not putting down the shops where I got the items from because I don't want to*

Slogtember 28 - Heaven on Earth

I miss weekend and going to places. This picture below is one of the places I want to go again. This is like the paradise in the middle of the jungle (like literally). Pemandangannya, walaupun nggak terlalu bervariasi, hijaaaauu banget.

Lokasi: MacRitchie Reservoir

Slogtember 19 - Steal, Nostalgia, Weekend

Jadi Uwi lagi ngidam pancakes hari Sabtu kemaren.

M: "Kok Paprika?"
U: "Iya, nama ceweknya Paprika kalo ga salah"
S: "Aneh-aneh aja. Bayangin lo punya anak namanya Ketumbar"
U: "Atau kalo enggak, Jahe"
M: "Yang bumbu khas indo dong, apa kek. Kunyit gitu."

Oh and another thing, gue hampir ketabrak.

Sekian.

Byeeee~

Slogtember 8 - A Weekend

With mi familia!

In the afternoon, me and my dad went to the church and watched a monologue or one woman production about Saint Therese of Lisieux, starring Eva Hernandez, The Story of a Soul. The producer and the actress and the monologue itself were beyond words amazing! Moreover, both the producer and the actress have amazing amazing voice! And I just realized that I had the story book of St. Therese when I was a kid :)

And after that, me, mom and dad went to the city and went around. I went to Kinokuniya and I was dying there since I wanted to buy sooo many books! But then I'm saving for so many things as well it was such a dilemma I had right there........

Since this is a nice weekend. Ngee Ann City had this Barongsai Championship in front of the building and we ended up watching it to kill time until it was dinner time. I really wanted to take picture but my phone battery was low as hell so sorry guyss no pictures :(

Theeen, we had dinner at Garuda Restaurant and after a long long time not eating Padang-Indonesian cuisine I got the chance to eat that agaain! :D I had rendang, gulai kikil, perkedel, daun singkong, and teri kacang and it was deliciouuusss. Also, if you are wondering why I eat a lot of stuffs (I eat variety of foods but the portion was not huge, you know what I mean), it is because my mom and dad have said thousands of time that I'm getting bones and more bones ughhhh i did not :| but whatevs hahahah.

Here's the ticket for the monologue:

Hope you guys have a beautiful weekend as well with people you love! :D

Slogtember 3 - Slumber Away

My mom was such an angel she let me slept over Meita's place last Sunday. We got together for one night to make it easier for Thasya to talk to all of us at one time :D we miss youu!

The unflattering screen print of everyone...

Woof you guys! xx

Slogtember 2 - Chinatown and Weekend's Bits

It's already September which means... UN Day is getting closer and closer in OFS. Meita and I decided to crash in the practice session last Saturday to check out the new routines and everything. They decided to do Kecak (Balinese) this year so we're hoping for the best to come and they could rock the performance just like the years before!

Coming back to SIS after a few months hiatus from anything related to SIS is pretty cool. I miss tutoring session with PPIS 6 there every Sunday, I miss the Saturday or after school practice for Gamelan and Saman 3, 2, and 1 year(s) ago. And I got my chance again to play on the swings which was very nice :D

Anywayssss, after the practice, Meita Uwi Marsha and I went around to eat at this place Marsha recommended. I think it was Maison Ikkoku. The food they have looks really delicious and they also got cakes and coffees and tea and other drinks. The Red Velvet Cake is delicious! I usually don't really like Red Velvet because it's too "bleh" but Ikkoku's red velvet was delicious!

Here's a weird plant with forks on it found near the coffe house:

Afterwards we went to Chinatown to go to the Lomo Embassy but before that we need to walk past small stores and a lot of other interesting stuffs along the road both at Arab Street/Kampong Glam and Chinatown.

Since it's the Hungry Ghost month (i guess?),  the big temple has lots of lanterns hanged on the ceiling.

And that's all about the weekend guys, see you!

The Gardens By The Bay

After a long long day of accompanying Thas shopping around orchard for her uni life (which has already started) in Holland, we stop by Wisma Atria food court to eat a late lunch and met Uwi. When one random idea from Thas came. Next stop from Wisma Atria ---> The Gardens By The Bay.

We arrived and sat by the lake for quite a long time. It was really peaceful and windy and it's such a beautiful place I'm not gonna lie! There are 2 conservatories, both have numerous of plants from around the world. We couldn't get in because it's so expensive (for us). It was around $25-28 to get in the two buildings. There are also thematic section of the gardens. The one I remember was the Indian Garden and it has all the spices of Indian cuisine and Thas said it smells like coconut.

The final decision is to go to the OCBC Supertree Grove (because it was only $5/person) which has a skywalk around 22 metres above the ground. It was SOO COOL!! You can walk through or even sit down on the bridge. The thing that makes it a wee bit scary is just the fact that sometimes when a lot of people walk or jump it feels like the bridge is bouncing up and down.. But still it's cool!! :D

These are the pictures I took when I was walking on the bridge :)

*One of the supertree grove. Look at how small people are down there!*

*the view of the CBD buildings*

*ze famouz Marina Bay Sands hotel*

One thing to note, don't go there past 7PM because the mosquitoes are... A LOT. Other than that, it's such a peaceful calm quite place. Me Gusta!

We still think that if you say the name fast enough, you'll be rapping your rhythm out.

Snow Avengers and The Huntsman

Right after the last IB exam I had two months ago (can't believe it was two months ago!), Thasya and I went straight to the cinema to watch this...

THE AVENGERS! (5/5)

I just had to give a full 5 for this movie. I think this movie is brilliant! The effects, the story, the actors, the everything! All the heroes have their own little moments and... I don't know it's just great! The final battle scene especially, that really highlight the characteristic of each of them. How Captain America acts like a captain with his authority organised everyone, how Loki is just pure evil but misunderstood, how Ironman is just in a word awesome...

I remember I how me and Thasya were so noisy discussing about stuffs and we were both shocked when Loki attacked Son of Coul :'( We hope he didn't really die...

And I especially like the bromance between Steve Rogers and Tony Stark! <3

Few days after we got back from our little grad trip to Bali, me, Thasya and Meita went to develop our lomo film rolls and while waiting we went to the cinema to watch...

SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN (3/5)

If I'm that mean, I would give this movie a 2 out of 5... The story is supposed to be good, I guess. I gave 3 because of the elfs and the girls with scars on their faces, they're good. Also for Charlize Theron, the queen... She screamed a lot but her acting was good (for me) plus she looked extremely gorgeous throughout the movie.

Chris Hemsworth was doing good as well but I couldn't hear his lines, every time he talks we burst in to laugh it's just too funny. And he had an axe with him all the time. We couldn't bear to compare it with Mjolnir...

Kristen Stewart was... well, she was doing it better than any of the Twilight movies... But, I don't know, I still think that she could've done it better. The funniest thing was how she looked like she was carrying a heavy load and looked like she was hurt (especially at the last scene when the crown was placed on her head).

And I don't like the way the movie ends... What happened with The Huntsman?

So, there you go guys! My review of the 2012 summer blockbuster! Will be doing another review soon :D

Hallo Oktober!

Und Hallo, Sie zu.

I'm on October break already!! Can't believe October is coming to an end and the break is also coming to an end *DISLIKE*

But again, I survived :D

So much happened in October :) The beginning of the month was so hectic. I took my SAT on the 1st, watched Laskar Pelangi: The Musical at Esplanade on the 2nd, watched PINTU dance performance at Esplanade (the rehearsal) and had another PPIS tutoring session, and on the 3rd, I WATCHED WESTLIFE LIVE AFTER 14 YEARS OF WAITING!!!!

On the 15th, we performed Ratoh Duek again for OFSMUN meeting but it was not that enjoyable...

For the break, catching up with the homies and went to Universal Studio with Thas, The Singgih sisters and Ruby (Peppi's sist) on 25th.

And there were ups and downs. We managed to get through problems (well at least that's what I thought? And hope...) and going even better now :)

I miss home, brother, cousins, families, friends, everyone terribly like I always do but I believe I'll see you soon!

SO much deadline for next months, pray for me, pray for y'all, pray for us :D

love and hugss xxx

Jangan lupa saling mendoakan yaaa :D terutama supaya pr gue selesai tepat waktu (malah nge-blog....)

Counting On You

Have you ever felt like so sad because you missed something really important and you should not miss them? Well, I do.

It feels like I've missed some of important issues for being a teenager, Indonesian teenager, in Indonesia. I miss so many things that my friends are dealing with now. And I feel really bad for not being there for them as before. I also feel so bad because I wanna know how my life is going to be if I'm still in Indonesia right now.

I mean, how's life going to be different if I'm not here, anyway? What about meeting friends from other country? What about being so success in you own country with not so much knowledge on outside? What about going to a scholarship from you own country, or maybe from a different country?

How does it feel to deal with love? How does it feel to deal with boys and girls problem? Well, it's not that I want to have a boy beside me to make my life SEEMS perfect. That's not how a perfect life is inside my mind, if I only do that for myself. Selfish, you know.

Well, sometimes you will think, as a teenager, it will be nice to have someone there next to you every time. Someone who understands you and you can discuss anything with them. Some people call it boyfriend or girlfriend. But it's not that shallow. You can have some called best friends and siblings to talk to. They also can understand you. They are humans, by the way.

But, why some teenager feels bad if they don't have any boyfriend or girlfriend? They need to open up their mind, really. Well, there always be somebody out there waiting for you. And if that person really has the piece of your heart, that person is yours. It's just about time whether you will find that Mr. or Mrs. Right fast enough or takes time. I know it sounded a little bit old fashioned but it's true. You will when you believe.

I always wanted to know how my life will be different if I wasn't here. Or maybe if I'm in a whole new world, like USA, Europe, or countries that don't use English much. Will it be the same? Or different? But yeah, being here is just great. This is a great opportunity that God has given to me and my family. He works every time in my life and I'm so grateful that I have Him in my life.

And also sometimes I feel so bad when my friends have something really bad and I can't help them because I don't know much about their real life again. Is distance that cruel? I mean, it separates us. I know Indonesia and Singapore isn't that far. But it costs much. And it's not easy to catch up with your new environment and you still want to be updated with stuffs from your old world. That is exactly what is happening to me. When you were the good one in your old world and you are no one in your new world? It's weird but that's how life should be :D

We go up and down every time. Just remember that God won't give anything that you can not handle. Every thing in our life has been written in our book of life by God. So, everything is His blessing, even the smallest thing that happen to us.
