The 1st Quarter of 2014

Inevitable procrastination blogpost!

Here are some things that happened to me in March 2014! :D

One of my best friends, Anita, and I used to have the same classes on our first year. Sadly, this year, we're taking different courses so we can't see each other a lot during the week. So, we arrange catch-up lunch every two weeks on Friday for us to chill and stuff.

The picture below was in February, I think. The sky was a bit grey and gloomy and it was windy. We were sitting down in one of the ovals around campus, chatting and watching the Japanese play softball. That was our view.

We also heard a man playing bagpipe so we decided to walk to the source of the music. We found a man playing bagpipe by the river. It was so unexpected yet peaceful at the same time.

Then, my hall had a commencement dinner. It's a formal welcoming party held every year by each colleges. Ours was in Australian Institute of Sport. This year, we actually sat down and had dinner and it was way better than the year before.

Because it's a formal event, we had the chance to dress up a little bit and looked all fancy-like.

I also was given the opportunity to be one of the committee member of Konferensi Internasional Pelajar Indonesia 2014. The event went great, I met lots of important and soon-to-be-important people and made lots of new friends. This is my first ever conference and it was great to sit down in the room and listen to people's presentation. I got the chance to be in the Politics and Culture sub-theme (but as a committee so I just sit down and make sure everything runs according to schedule) but it was great to hear new ideas and discussion. We also had workshops and seminars and a closing lunch event in KBRI and everything was so much fun.

Then, right after KIPI finished, I had potluck night with church choir peeps. We ate some delicious food, yummy and beautiful dessert that Tiffany made, and played board games until 1AM in the morning. We played Catan, which was voted the best game of 2013 or 2012. But, it was the most confusing game ever and I don't understand a thing. Good thing I was in a team with JJ, who know it so well and we won :)

We also played Taboo which is waaaaayy better than Catan and it opened our eyes to the other side of each other's mind. We ended the night watching weird videos on YouTube.

And, that's the highlights so far!

I have assignment due in a week that I haven't started and mid-semester exam in 2 weeks that I haven't prepared.

So, yeah, work hard play harder and wish all of us (me and you) bunch of luck!

Heater Y U NO ON

Kembali ke gaya ngeblog jaman jaman baru mulai lagi ya untuk sesaat...

Gila ya dingin banget. Ga bohong. Tadi pagi udah enam derajat celsius aja loh! Dan udah mulai pake baju berlapis...padahal musim dingin masih 1 setengah bulan lagi *brb rebus diri di air panas*

Nah ya disini ada pemanas kan ceritanya. Tapi pemanasnya ga nyala kalo musim panas (go figure). Secara sekarang masih musim gugur, belom musim dingin (tapi dinginnya udah kaya musim dingin di kota lain -_-) jadi ini hall belom nyalain pemanas waktu Maret kemaren.

Tengah-tengah Maret udah mulai jatoh ke 20 awal tuh suhunya. Orang orang udah mulai minta dinyalain pemanasnya kan dan segala macem, tapi karena kalo nyalain pemanas itu berarti listrik (mungkin?) jadi ya ga bakal dinyalain lah ya kan ngirit gitu anak kuliahan........ *cek isi dompet*

Dijanjiinnya sih April awal tuh bakalan dinyalain pemanasnya. Semua orang seneng deh bahagia karena akhirnya bisa merasakan kehangatan seorang, eh maksudnya temperaturnya gitu yang hangat.

April datanglah sudah dan temperatur pun mulai kesandung kesandung ke belasan yang agak kebawah-bawah gitu lebih dingin dikit. Sekitar 16-17 kalo siang siang.. Awal-awalnya sih pada oke oke aja kan soalnya masih ada matahari segala macem. Masih anget dikit lah didalem juga suhunya.

Nah sekarang nih udah April tanggal puluhan, suhunya udah jatoh dan lecet jadi untuk naik lagi agak susah ya.. Kalo siang udah mulai 13an suhunya. Masih ada matahari sih, dan mataharinya masih terik (agak ngeselin sebenernya tapi gapapa lah anget :P) tapi anginnya yastagaa....... Gue disini naik sepeda bolak balik kampus, dan naik sepeda jadi berat, susah, dan dingin kaya es krim yang dilapis roti yang dijual uncle uncle di sekitaran Orchard yang enak banget itu yaampun kangen parah!! (maaf melipir)

Dan akhirnya pun saudara, besok pemanas akan dinyalakan. Haleluya!!!

March!

I promise I'm not making this a big deal or anything.... I need somewhere to write and here it goes.

I'm suppose to do my tutes questions now but I'm tired.

I've been here for almost a month now, believe it or not. I haven't felt homesick until yesterday.

Yep, I know it's so late. Maybe it's because almost all the domestic first years get food from home every week? Hahahaha.

Anyway, it's March! Month of birthdays :)

I hope you all are having lots and lots of fun this month because you will!

Welcome Back!

After a brief hiatus, I'm back!

In those very short hiatus, I've accomplished a few things in life. I'm now in the land down under currently studying as a university student (finally!) and I just had my first week of lectures :D

I'm living in a self catered dorm. Not a common choice for first years, I guess. That means, I have to cook all meals myself. Since it's a dorm, we have to share bathroom, which is a new experience to me. Good thing the room is all for yourself and you don't have to share it. My view is pretty awesome as well:

Things are going interesting and I probably have a few stories to tell.

Last Thursday, at 6.20AM, I was woken up by a horrible digital alarm sound. I thought it was my alarm (even though I know for sure it doesn't sound like that) so I tried to get back to sleep. After one or two minutes, I realised that it came from outside. I opened my door and there is a little speaker on the corner of the wall, wailing loudly. Pissed, I came back to my bed.

A few seconds later, I heard people coming out of their rooms. I opened my door and saw people heading to the foyer. My next door neighbour came out looking really confuse. Since we both are new residents, we decided to follow everyone out to the foyer. I took my time to take my jumper and headed out.

When we were there waiting for the senior resident, I realised that I FORGOT TO BRING MY KEYCARD. I went downstairs with everyone else while cursing myself for being so stupid. We were all heading to the parking lot. It was 6.30AM and it was around 10 degrees outside, I was wearing my OFS senior hoodie, tee and shorts. IT WAS FREAKING COLD for a girl who spend all her lifetime in 25 to 35 degree celcius everyday. I was shivering for about half an hour trying to awkwardly move to keep my body warm.

Since it was a fire drill (if you haven't worked that out yet, there you go) we went back upstairs at around 7AM and everyone is saying "good night" to each other. My senior resident was there and talked to us about the drill and how pissed we all are at the time. My SR let me in to my room and not counting it as a penalty because it's a fire drill.

I had a lecture at 11AM that day but I successfully woke up at 10.40AM and decided to not to go to the morning lecture. Luckily, Nadeen (first Indonesian girl friend yay) is on the 4PM lecture so I'm not alone.

It doesn't stop there. Being a clever girl I am, I successfully locked my self out, AGAIN, just a few minutes ago. I was about to take a yoghurt in the kitchenette when I talked to other residents and forgot to leave my door unlocked. Without phone, or anything really, just a spoon. A useless spoon...

I couldn't call my SR nor the duty warden so I decided to knock on his door and he wasn't there. I was panicking because both of my next door neighbours are not in their rooms since yesterday (I guess...). So I asked my other neighbour to help me and call my SR, interrupting his card game just to unlock my door. Lucky I have a very very very nice SR and neighbours.

Yeah, I just write this because I feel stupid and I feel so bad for disrupting people's beautiful weekend...

Sunday Morning, No Rain Was Falling

Hi! So, I don't know, I think I'll do like OOTD or something? No, this is not like a proper OOTD, because I know nothing about fashion! I'm just gonna put a pic of myself that I took on Sunday, pathetically, in a small road on this view mirror. Don't judge me guys, please don't :P

Yeah, my body is pretty distorted ahahahahaha but whatever so, I was wearing:

• Blue Shirt (it actually has white vertical stripes that you can't see)
• Dark Blue (almost grey) skinny jeans with washed out effect along the thighs and knees that I've had for 6 years-ish :)
• Pair of black wedges (short heels)
• And I'm holding a wallet from my sister, Pamela.

Slogtember 30 - Last Slog

And here we are, the last of Slogtember!

I know it's already the middle of October and it's coming to an end (for October) and Slogtember is supposed to be project in September. But I'm currently at home now and I have no internet connection at home since the only usb modem doesn't work on my laptop, only on my laptop, magically. SO I couldn't finish this on time. And I'm really sorry about that. :(

Other than that, though, I hope if you're reading this you've been enjoying my randomness in September and if you read any of the post you can comment on it, or do whatever you want :) I'm enjoying this experience and I hope you do, too.

If you're wondering how in the world I can write a blogpost now if I said I have no internet connection.... I'm in a coffee shop, everyone's favorite. I drag my mom too since I can't go there alone. Just to finish this. Look at my determination guys! :P

Slogtember 10 - Classes

Nothing much happened today...

But yesterday afternoon, Marsha, Uwi and I went to the embassy store and joined in another class about angles and modelling using La Sardina after last week's class on Diana F+. It was a lot of fun no joke :D

So I have in total 4 film rolls to develop. I hope I'll have the will to go out of my house tomorrow to develop them and stuff! I hope the results are good so that I'm not wasting my money since I'm a little bit broke this month.

Jaipong Dancer

Heyya!

I finally finally finished the book, Jaipong Dancer by Patrick Sweeting!

Synopsis:

Set in Sumatra, around 1950s. A beautiful Javanese girl named Yahyu was a popular classical Javanese  dancer who innocently fell in love with a Dutch soldier, who abandoned her after she conceived his baby. Her family arranged her a marriage with a man she doesn't even know. She refused and ended up in a long and not-so-pleasant adventure figuring out life which tested her belief, principle and values.

Favorite Quotes:

"I think it's better to spend life constantly searching for paradise than to find only disappointment." (98)

"...but now I know the world's not like that. Everyone is fighting and everyone is upside down. I don't know any longer what's right and what's wrong." (321, 322) 

My Opinion:

I picked up the book because of the title. As an Indonesian, the title appeals to me the most and I was expecting something similar to Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk trilogy (which is superb! *biased detected*) because I just finished that book when I saw this.

To be perfectly honest, the book might not be enjoyable for teenagers. Good story line? Yes. There are conflicts and resolution. He provided a lot of background information about Sumatra's condition in 1950s. The description about the settings and characters were quite detail. I also like the way he gave us insight to almost each characters. Good stuffs for a historical fiction.

However, I don't really like the resolution of the main character's problems. It seems too easy. *Spoiler alert* I still don't understand how the popular House accept her only for dancing while all the other girls have to do some 'extra jobs'? And at the same time, she's pregnant. It's not logical. And how we never knew about the belando's business with the owner of The House...

All in all, though, if you enjoy historical fiction book, this might be something to start with. (since i haven't read any historical fiction book hahah)

Valentine's Thoughts

You know how today couples who are on a long distance relationship are stressed out because they couldn't spend this lovely day with their loved ones...

But whatever the circumstances you guys are in today, hope you guys always radiate all the love and happiness! You can make extra effort but yeah, it's just a Tuesday. Like any other Tuesday.

Hallo Oktober!

Und Hallo, Sie zu.

I'm on October break already!! Can't believe October is coming to an end and the break is also coming to an end *DISLIKE*

But again, I survived :D

So much happened in October :) The beginning of the month was so hectic. I took my SAT on the 1st, watched Laskar Pelangi: The Musical at Esplanade on the 2nd, watched PINTU dance performance at Esplanade (the rehearsal) and had another PPIS tutoring session, and on the 3rd, I WATCHED WESTLIFE LIVE AFTER 14 YEARS OF WAITING!!!!

On the 15th, we performed Ratoh Duek again for OFSMUN meeting but it was not that enjoyable...

For the break, catching up with the homies and went to Universal Studio with Thas, The Singgih sisters and Ruby (Peppi's sist) on 25th.

And there were ups and downs. We managed to get through problems (well at least that's what I thought? And hope...) and going even better now :)

I miss home, brother, cousins, families, friends, everyone terribly like I always do but I believe I'll see you soon!

SO much deadline for next months, pray for me, pray for y'all, pray for us :D

HEI LAUTSA UN INDO

What's up sodara-sodara sebangsa dan setanah air? Kumaha damang? :D

Cuman mau berasa sok kepentingan kasih kasih update aja nih ;)

Baru ngelewatin UN day tanggal 15 September kemarin. It was the best UN ever. OFS UN INDO Rocks big time! I love them all so much to pieces. We delivered such a great performance that we are being asked to perform AGAIN in the MUN Conference! So excited! Can't believe this is my last tho :(

Dan seperti biasaaaa... sekolah emang paling benci liat anak muridnya seneng dikiiiiitttt aja. Penganiayaan mulai datang silih berganti dengan banyak banget tugas yang harus kelar minggu ini dan minggu depan (maklum mid semester, gurunya kurang nilai jadi ngerjain muridnya begini nih -.-)

Jujur aja ini beban udah banyak banget di pundak rasanya mau hibernasi cuman demi kelangsungan hidup gue dan masa depan yang cerah, gue brusaha mensugesti diri gue sendiri untuk selalu dan tetap semangat. Yiha!

Lastly, buat semua yang lagi berjuang dengan ulangan mid-semester, pentas, edufair, pensi, urusan2 kuliah dan apapun itu; MARILAH SAUDARAKU KITA BERJUANG BERSAMA-SAMA! Jangan lupa saling mendoakan yaaa :D terutama supaya pr gue selesai tepat waktu (malah nge-blog....)

Strawberry Banana

so, i bought a new lip balm last week because i don't really like my previous lip balm. It feels nice for the first hour but then it will be dried out and makes my lips pale. so, I was just browsing lip balm on a drugstore. (Yo, I'm a student with tight allowance so I don't buy stuff on a very expensive make up store as such) and my eyes are attracted to a very cute packaging of this lip balm/gloss (it says lip gloss on the packaging but it moisturizes my lip a lot) . I read about this product since last year's December and that was a limited edition collection so I'm not sure if this is still around. But I found it!!

I love the very cute packaging! And I LOVE the smell. It smells really nice. It's sweet and it's not strong. The color makes my lips look fuller. The gloss is very nice it's not too glossy, ah it's hard to describe but it's beautiful. It tastes good and if you drink or eat it won't be gone very fast. It stays. Overall, it's just very good and I love this! :D It's also not expensive and this is absolutely worth it for something less than S$5.00 :D

Btw, I think I need to drink more water and I haven't do any sport except PE. I've been living a very unhealthy life :( total dislike

Dynamite

Jeez, I can't believe I haven't put things up for quite a long time. I've been so busy these days, especially with UN day which was on the 16th of September and it was one of the best moment in OFS :) I'm really glad to be Indonesian. Indos are all awesome! :D

So many things coming up for the last two weeks of September. Essays due, notes, composition, solo performance, tests. WHOA. Fortunately, I'm good. And still enjoying my time, my procrastination time. I hope I'll meet all the due dates *crossfingers*

Well, this is just my quick update for you guys out there. Telling you that I feel good. Great. Hope so. With loads of works and things to be done! :)

Si Penangkap Ikan

Selamat siang semuanyaaa (kalo lo lagi baca ini pas pagi, siang atau malem, maklumin aja ya. Nulisnya siang soalnya) !!!!

Gue mau berbagi sedikit cerita oh cerita. Jadi gini, gue udah menargetkan untuk hidup lebih baik. Baru menargetkan. Jadi intinya gue ga boleh tidur malem2, ga boleh bangun siang2, makan 3 kali sehari,mandi dan gosok gigi 2 kali sehari. Gitu doang. Kalo lo nanya apanya yg lebih baik silakan bandingkan dengan gaya hidup gue sebulan terakhir (bedeuuh gaya hidup sok banget). Tidur subuh2, bangun siang banget, makan 2 kali sehari, kalo yg terakir tetep 2 kali sih. Hahaha. Jadi saya baru saja MENARGETKAN. Masalah kesampean atau tidak niat baik yang sudah saya tanam dihati saya, hanya Tuhan yang tau.

Masalahnya, niat tersebut dirancang di hari minggu. Tapi sampe sekarang hari rabu, belom ada yang jalan (oyehh). Semuanya masih berjalan seperti sebulan yang lalu. Inilah yang dinamakan 'Dampak Piala Dunia untuk Remaja yang Libur Sekolahnya 2 Bulan lebih 2 Minggu'. Padahal gue nonton match yg stengah 2 aja baru sekali. Pas Spanyol lawan siapaaa gitu pas masih 8 besar hahaha.

Oke. Jadi gue baru saja memulai membaca buku The Old Man and The Sea karya Ernest Hemingway. Buku ini akan dipakai untuk pelajaran Language A Self Study di sekolah. Karna gue orang indonesia, jadi nantinya, SEMOGA, gue belajar bahasa indonesia. Gue kira, ga bakalan ada yang tau buku ini, secara ini buku langka banget waktu gue cari versi bahasa indonesianya di jakarta (begitu pula dengan Shannen tp untung dia nemu).

Ini adalah bukunya, beda cover aja sih, yg gue baca covernya ga begini untuk yg bahasa inggris:


Pas gue nulis di twitter kalo gue lg BARU MAU MULAI baca ni buku, gue di mention oleh Mike, temen sekelas gue kls 8. Dia bilang dia udah baca. Gue spontan bengong. Ini buku langka begini, gimana dia udah baca aja? pikir gue dalam hati. Ga heran juga sih, Mike emang sukanya baca buku2 penuh inspirasi dan bahasa yang berat (Hehehe iya kan de? :P) trus dia bilang ini buku mengajarkan tentang nilai kesabaran dan kerja keras. Gue bengong lagi.

Gue denger dari Thasya sama Shannen ini buku isinya bener2 tentang bapak2 udah tua sama anak muda cowo jadi nelayan, mancing dilaut. Dan mereka berdua katanya udah ga kuat baca karna ga ngerti. Gue udah mulai baca dan baru nyampe halaman 21, sejauh ini isinya emang tentang ikan, laut, mancing, nelayan, sama baseball (yg trakir emg ga nyambung). Tapi baca mentionnya Mike gue jd mikir untuk berusaha tertarik dg buku ini. Ditambah lagi katanya pengarangnya pemenang nobel sastra. Nobel SASTRA men (gue tau lo semua ga ada yg buta, cuman biar seru gue ulang2 aja ni kata2 NOBEL SASTRA 3x). Ini buku bakalan gaul.

Semoga aja lah gue bisa semangat untuk membaca soalnya tulisannya kecil2 banget bikin ga betah (alibi)

Protection, Trust, Courage, Sacrifices, Instinct. Full of action and great effect. And this film is scary for me.


ECLIPSE
*Team Emmett since the 1st movie! Kellan Lutz :D*

Just another vampire battle, triangle love, lots of kissing, hugging. Kristen, Rob and Tay still mumbling when they say the dialogues. Haha. But this movie is good.


DESPICABLE ME
*Agnes I wanna kidnap you, cutie pie!!*

This is a great movie of Comedy, Family Love, Ambition, Priority, and everything. You can learn so much about life, about happiness and sadness.

don't know what to write hahaha. I have been busy lately because of exam preparation and stuffs. I will be having my IGCSEs on Wednesday. I'll have maths paper 2 and then on friday international English the first paper, i think? I'm not really sure. Then next week i will have like the final exam week thing. To make students life even worse, the school gives us homework, like plenty of them, still.

And I don't know I'm just happy for no reason :) currently been watching Indonesian music and channel and stuff.

Pengen ngomongin apa yaa? Bentar lagi udah mau naik2an kelas aja nih udah pada kelas 11. Kayaknya setaun cepet banget ya? Tiba-tiba udah mau naik kelas aja.. Kemaren aja kayaknya gue baru lulus2an gitu sama prom night.

Nah, ngomongin graduation sm prom night gue jadi inget Nacht Scheiding ato apalah itu gue lupa namanya hahaha. Seinget gue, gue udah ngepost peristiwa pas prom, cuman pas lulus2an engga. Kayaknya sih..

Kakak gue lulus!! Puji Tuhan.

Oh, tadi gue baru selesai ngerjain IGCSE Maths Paper 2 Extended muahaha. Menurut gue itu lumayan lah. Lumayan bikin pala gue pindah ke lutut. Oke ini ga beneran. Gue bisa ngerjain dan itu lebih gampang dari pada mock exam/try out nya. Semoga ntar paper 4 nya juga begitu. English nya juga begitu deh.

Dari dulu gue paling ga bisa deh kalo disuru ngerjain apa2 yag cari area pake jangka sama penggaris haha. Tadi ada tuh soal kaya gitu. Gue ngerjain sekitar 15 menitan, berusaha mikir gila2an. Tapi, tetep aja pala gue di lutut, alias gue juga gatau jawabannya gimana. Tapi soal yang lain boleh laaaah.

Dan gue....
