Frankie's Guide To Get Things Done

Whello blovers!

I'm on my summer holiday right now. Thankfully, I'm pass that point where you can't go to sleep and stay awake every night and day thinking about your result. My result is soo average this semester. Honestly, I'm disappointed with myself but at the same time felt grateful.

This semester is absolute fuckery for me. Everything got harder. Macroeconomics is still a blur for me until today, ICL (an intro to law module) is overwhelming, I mean I like writing but not that kind of writing... And as my defence mechanism, I left everything to the last flipping minute and hope for the best. Thank God, I still pass everything.

I mean, everyone who goes to my uni kind of know that it is harddd to get the top band but it is not impossible (in my faculty, at least). So, I believe I could've done better but it was in the past so I'm giving myself a chance to move on, for the better hopefully.

And now, while I reflect to myself and making this as my goal for next year, I'll share tips to hopefully improve things and shizzles for school and uni:

1. Do not study anywhere in your room. Why? You might have the seclusion and the comfort but all these are traps! I've been doing this for a year and it didn't work. It's mostly because I know I have all things to entertain myself in my room. Entertainment vs. study? Well, unconsciously, you will end up choosing entertainment.

2. Go away from your dorm/house to study. Library is a good place. Some of the reason is/are: no access to food (the first thing I look for), no access to talk to people (because everyone else is doing the same thing), everyone else is doing the same thing so you're not out of place. And you know that little box cubicle thing? Those things are miracle worker for me! I know it sounds weird but it is. It restrict my view and my space so it makes me more efficient ;)

3. Eat before you do things. Do not do things while eating or having snack. I mean, I love to eat. I eat all the time if the circumstances is helping me to do it. It's a distraction, that's all there is to it.

4. Making plans is good, actually sticking to them is better.
I love love love to plan out my day from waking up to going back to sleep. But, the chance of me actually doing the things I wrote is very very slim. This needs to change, tbh.

5. Your social media network can wait. Hell, nobody talks to you on social media. Just kidding! In all seriousness though, they can wait. You don't have to refresh Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and your email every 5 minutes. If you don't check it every 5 minutes, it will still be there so don't worry!

6. Other things like the show that you're trying to finish can wait too!

7. Get away from phone and put it on silent. It doesn't matter if you miss phone calls. It's not like you pick them up ever anyway. (I'm not mean guys! I have this weird phobia of picking up phone calls because of a thing I can't tell you :P)

8. Actually start doing shit!

So, there you go everyone (including myself). Do all steps, read and write every word like it's the best thing that came out of you ever! Don't forget to comment below and share your tips to get things done :)

happy holidays

Bones Season 8 Finale Reaction

Hey guys! I'm doing a challenge from ultimateblogchallenge and I will be posting everyday of the month so I hope you guys will be enjoying everything with me (X)

I just finished watching Bones season 8 episode 24. Bear with me guys, I'm trying to sort out my feelings.

If you have no idea what Bones is, it's an American TV show and if you have no idea what happened in the episode, here's a trailer for you to watch:

Attention: I will be writing spoilers!

From the first moment I knew Pelant was involved in this episode, I almost turned my TV off. I hate him so much but he is back with half of his face scared from Booth's shot. Then it got really emotional when Hodgins thought that everything is his fault, since Hodgins and Pelant met, agent Flynn was killed and now more people were killed. Also, at this point we know that Pelant is using Sweets' works to set up his crime.

After all the downers early in the episode, everything went up up and away when Bones finally proposed to Booth and everyone is happy. Scarface was making a video and the girl was watching the video but nobody cares. She grabbed the gun and called Booth, at this point I was screaming frantically because Booth can't die.

Apparently, the girl was the witness in the first few minutes of the episode and she is the daughter of another killed agent. Everyone freaks out and thought she'll kill Booth but nu-uh. She was seeking revenge and trying to kill Sweets! I was like, "what the hell?!" I mean why Sweets??! He is the good guy, he has always been the good guy. Pelant is officially a sick-sick-sick-not-even-a-person-anymore.

Then everything started to go downhill from there and all the tension was EVERRYWHERE.

When all the things come to place, that scarface called Booth and force him to break the engagement with Bones or 5 innocent people would die. And since Booth is a good great man, he did what scarface asked him and Bones and Booth were really sad that it's just ridiculous and I just can't. I CAN'T.

To the writer of the episode, Stephen Nathan and Jonathan Collier, I applaud you but I also hate you.

What was the last TV series/movie that drives you mad? Tell me in the comments below! x

What Happen to 2013?!

Hey guys! It's the 1st of July and I'm doing a challenge from ultimateblogchallenge and I will be posting everyday of the month so I hope you guys will be enjoying everything with me (X)

Seriously, it is already the first of July, which means the half of 2013 has already gone! This is really mad considering we only have 6 months left to a new year, to 2014. It feels like it was just a month ago we were freaking out about the apocalypse.
When I look back a the first half of this wonderful year, I realised it went by really really fast. Pretty much like, I don't know, a flash of light. And I'm very very unsatisfied.

I don't think I did anything up-to-standard. Or even did anything. I just felt like the last 6 months is the period for me to explore and try new things and open up to a new beginning. Then, this upcoming 6 months will be me re-evaluating my life and getting it all back on track.

I have a valid reason but I am not going to use that to slack around some more because 6 months of doing absolute nothing last year (you'll know if you read previous posts) and 6 months of "exploration" is enough slacking for my 19 years of existence.

So, there it is, my July wish and goal: to get back on track and get back in life :)

Hope you guys have a great month ahead!

Please join me in the journey this month and tell me your hopes/wishes/goals in the comment xx

Riviera Lavender - L'Oreal Colour Riche Nail Colour

Since I started college a few month ago, I become obsessed with taking care of my nails. I use the session of self-manicure-pedicure (the cheapest method possible, of course!) as relaxation with my friends after a long long hard week.

Last Monday was the due date of one of my group assignment. There were a lot of things to be done but all of the students (that I've spoken to) didn't think it's worth the mark. Hands down, that assignment was the most stressful for this semester.

Once we finished the project, I decided to wind down and do a wee bit of taking-care-of-myself/nail ritual. It is fall here so I think pastel color would look lovely on nails.

I tested out my L'Oreal Colour Riche Nail Colour in shade 507, Riviera Lavender. I am not sure if this available in all countries, but I really hope it does since this shade is so beautiful!

This is how the bottle looks like. I'm a sucker for cute small bottles of nail polish, since I rarely finish one standard bottle and it does not take up a large space to store. Since Lavender is indeed my favorite flower and smell, the color appeals to me the most. This is how the nail polish looks like once you put it on:

The color come out to be pastel purple with a little bit of blue hue in it. The formula is great, creamy in a very good consistency. I used two coats and top it up with one layer of top coat and it covers my 10 nails beautifully. The brush is so easy to use and it feels soft on your nails as well. It stays on my nails very well too. The picture was taken on third day of using it. As I'm writing, it's day 6 and it has only chipped a little bit on the edges (most likely because I had to crawl and use a lot of hand movement for something :P)

Overall, I give L'Oreal Colour Riche Nail Colour 5 stars because it is very pretty, looks lovely and stays really good on my nails for quite a good price (for a uni student! Thus, it might be cheap for you lovelies out there who work?). You can give L'Oreal Colour Riche Nail Colour a go by going to your nearest drugstore or department store :) x

The Gardens By The Bay

After a long long day of accompanying Thas shopping around orchard for her uni life (which has already started) in Holland, we stop by Wisma Atria food court to eat a late lunch and met Uwi. When one random idea from Thas came. Next stop from Wisma Atria ---> The Gardens By The Bay.

We arrived and sat by the lake for quite a long time. It was really peaceful and windy and it's such a beautiful place I'm not gonna lie! There are 2 conservatories, both have numerous of plants from around the world. We couldn't get in because it's so expensive (for us). It was around $25-28 to get in the two buildings. There are also thematic section of the gardens. The one I remember was the Indian Garden and it has all the spices of Indian cuisine and Thas said it smells like coconut.

The final decision is to go to the OCBC Supertree Grove (because it was only $5/person) which has a skywalk around 22 metres above the ground. It was SOO COOL!! You can walk through or even sit down on the bridge. The thing that makes it a wee bit scary is just the fact that sometimes when a lot of people walk or jump it feels like the bridge is bouncing up and down.. But still it's cool!! :D

These are the pictures I took when I was walking on the bridge :)

*One of the supertree grove. Look at how small people are down there!*

*the view of the CBD buildings*

*ze famouz Marina Bay Sands hotel*

One thing to note, don't go there past 7PM because the mosquitoes are... A LOT. Other than that, it's such a peaceful calm quite place. Me Gusta!

We still think that if you say the name fast enough, you'll be rapping your rhythm out.

Jaipong Dancer

Heyya!

I finally finally finished the book, Jaipong Dancer by Patrick Sweeting!

Synopsis:

Set in Sumatra, around 1950s. A beautiful Javanese girl named Yahyu was a popular classical Javanese  dancer who innocently fell in love with a Dutch soldier, who abandoned her after she conceived his baby. Her family arranged her a marriage with a man she doesn't even know. She refused and ended up in a long and not-so-pleasant adventure figuring out life which tested her belief, principle and values.

Favorite Quotes:

"I think it's better to spend life constantly searching for paradise than to find only disappointment." (98)
"...but now I know the world's not like that. Everyone is fighting and everyone is upside down. I don't know any longer what's right and what's wrong." (321, 322)
My Opinion:

I picked up the book because of the title. As an Indonesian, the title appeals to me the most and I was expecting something similar to Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk trilogy (which is superb! *biased detected*) because I just finished that book when I saw this.

To be perfectly honest, the book might not be enjoyable for teenagers. Good story line? Yes. There are conflicts and resolution. He provided a lot of background information about Sumatra's condition in 1950s. The description about the settings and characters were quite detail. I also like the way he gave us insight to almost each characters. Good stuffs for a historical fiction.

However, I don't really like the resolution of the main character's problems. It seems too easy. *Spoiler alert* I still don't understand how the popular House accept her only for dancing while all the other girls have to do some 'extra jobs'? And at the same time, she's pregnant. It's not logical. And how we never knew about the belando's business with the owner of The House...

All in all, though, if you enjoy historical fiction book, this might be something to start with. (since i haven't read any historical fiction book hahah)
