Halloween, Jamie Oliver Jamie's Italian, and more!

Warning: there will be lots of picture in this post

It's the FINAL EXAM PERIOD or most commonly known as biggest freak out period of the year or getting little to no sleep or too much sleep there is no in between.

And that is my excuse for not posting since almost a month ago, but I'm back in my precious procrastination time so I can dwell in this den and write a wee bit!

So October was Halloween! What did I do for Halloween, you say? Nothing! :)
Why? Because I never celebrated Halloween and I really don't see the significance of it for me...no offence on all the people who celebrate Halloween, though.

I did, however, become a zombie for one day! (I guess, this was my attempt to appreciate a tradition?). The college/hall that I live in now have annual musical and this year I helped for backstage hands. We're doing Reefer Madness musical and there are zombies in the plot so us as backstage hands thought it would be great to be a part of the walking dead troops with fake blood (that is made from chocolate and golden syrup, yum!) and makeup :)

Excuse my camwhoreness but do I look pretty dead yet?

Then, the weekend before exam week, we went to Jamie Oliver's restaurant, Jamie's Italian. The town that I live in is having a soft opening and one of my best friend here works there. She invited us to come down and indulge in what I call, beautiful food. Just appreciate that...

It was pretty amazing indeed. I really like the ambience of the place because it looks formal from the outside, but actually it's really laid-back inside. Also, the portion size is playing mind tricks with people if you're not aware of it.

Jamie Oliver is pretty famous for his healthy recipes. His restaurant is obviously promoting the same thing. One mind trick they used is the proportion size vs. the plate size. If you have ever dined in Jamie's Italian, you probably know that the plate is humongous. It's not just big, it's huge. However, the lay the food flat so it looks like you're eating a lot because your plate is so big but the portion of the food itself is small to medium. So, you still think you're eating a lot and you're full.

Then a few days before the exams, the APO (Academic Program Officers) in my hall dropped a study-survival kit. Look at that! All 550 students get that pack! It's really cute :3

And one of my best friends also bought us cakes from Dobinsons bakery (best thing in town) and I got a chocolate cheesecake that is just so beautiful and so delicious!

Then, I have my exams two days in a row (and one of them is Saturday! Major bummer). After my exam on Saturday, I bought a bubble tea, chocolate milk tea from Chatime and walk home because the weather was gorgeous. It reminded me a lot of my high school time when I would do the same thing after a long/hard day...

And what better way to end the story with a picture of a park (or a forrest, like seriously it's just full of rows and rows of huge-tall trees) with the sun ready to set in and a red blob of ray of sunshine :)

That's all there is for now guys :) I would love to know what you guys did for Halloween and also what is you favourite guilty pleasure drink, food or dessert? Let me know in the comments below!

Good luck! Have a great week and wish me luck for exams!

xx

General Update on being a Teenager

I've been contemplating on whether or not I should write this down. But... Since this blog is basically about my life and stuff, I think it's quite appropriate.

I've been feeling really tired and demotivated lately. I haven't cooked in a while hence the unhealthy eating, I haven't been doing my laundry, my studying is a bit all over the place, I'm not feeling well and so on and so forth. Basically, I don't feel like doing anything.

Which is wrong, of course. I can't help it, those dark days are storming past me these past few days.

I've been cocooning myself in my room but I'm not doing anything important. I've been watching a lot of TV shows (like season 3-10 of Friends) just to pass time even though I know I need to do things. My laundry is just sitting in the wardrobe (the clean ones) and under the bed (the dirty ones). I've been sleeping in crazy hours and not feeling well. And (maybe) because of this, every time I ride my bike on the main street, I'm always scared I'm going to fall over or a car/bus/truck will hit me. On top of all that, I became annoyed by every little thing that I see or hear.

Not cool, so not cool.

You might think that I'm homesick. I don't think so hahaha. This is a very weird feeling. It's not that I'm unhappy because I feel all right, not extremely happy or sad. I'm just tired for no reason. It might be because everything is so monotone after a crazy 3/4 of the year where I have non-stop rehearsal. But when I think about it again, it is not monotone at all. I have events to go to, backstage hands to do for my hall's musical coming up, crazy assignments coming along.

Anywaaay, I realise that all of this is happening and I am trying to get on top of things now. I really hope that I can get back to a healthy routine which consist me doing something other than sitting on my desk glued to this laptop.

Please leave any advice in the comments below on how to combat tired/annoyed feeling and what you do to stay on top of everyday things in life! Your help would be so appreciated :)

Last (Productive) Week of September

Guess from the title, I was somewhat productive last week! *lazy happy dance*

It all started when I had an assignment to finish so I cram everything to the last few days because I'm a stupid and lazy b***h. Okay, no I am not. I just hate the subject so I prolong the actual start of the assignment until I panicked and I couldn't really think. I'm not proud of myself. So not proud of myself. But you guys understand that moments right?

I did still have time to take a picture of how my table looks like around 16 hours prior to the submission time. This is how I work: in a mess. Oh wait that's what I am! But... I'm really glad that I got to finished it and actually got to sleep that day. So, one assignment done many more to go! Hoozah!

Then on the weekend, my friend called me to go with her to Society of Cakeyness here in my hall. I was always wanted to go but last semester until August I always have rehearsals on Saturday all day long. I got to go and we made Choux Pastry Swan and look how cool they were! The one that my friend and I made is the one at the very front of the formation. It was pretty and tasty too :) I feel like making the choux pastry for profiteroles with Nutella filling now...

And on Sunday, I went to the Malaysian High Commission because they are having an open house event. It's a part of tourism promotion, celebration of centenary and Floriade (I guess...) called Windows To The World. It was great because I got to eat some of the tasty foods they sell (but to be completely and utterly honest to you guys, Indonesian food is still the best food ever!) and some of them were really nice. I also watched a little bit of this traditional dance down here, anyone know what this is called? :)

And I'm hoping I can go to Festival Indonesia in two weeks because I want food

And, thaaat is how I spent my last weekend of September 2013! Seriously, don't you feel it all went by so quickly? It's October now! How crazy is that??

Please don't forget to comment, share and follow my blog and all of my social media :) Have a lovely week welcoming October everyone!

Sleeping Habit

One thing I seriously need to change is my sleeping habit. And I have a few reasons to support this campaign:

1. It is not healthy for me.

I am a person who love sleeping. I can sleep for 12 hours a day (once I slept for 14 hours). I just love sleeping, especially sleeping late and wake up really really late (like noon to early afternoon-ish). I know it's not a good thing, it's a bad habit, it's bad for my health. I need to stop doing it.

2. I wake up tired.

Yes. Believe it or not, sleeping late and waking up late will make you tired when you wake up. You can argue that you sleep for 8 hours or 12 hours but that really does not matter. You will wake up tired and it still feels like you only slept for a few hours instead of that 12 hours. I do every time. (which would be everyday on break like this)

3. It changes my biological clock

It feels so good, yet so bad. You won't get things done except if you force yourself, which is really hard, not gonna lie. It then may sucks you into the complicated feeling of I-hate-myself-why-am-I-so-lazy combined with it-feels-so-good-to-sleep and I-love-my-bed

4. My neighbour is having romantic time at ridiculous hours.

"OMG Sis, it's so not a big deal stop exaggerating it!"OH NO. NU UH. You have no idea, no idea at all what I went through (except if you did go through the same thing). It is really annoying and you're tired, cranky and trying to get some sleep at 3 in the morning. I put my earphones in, I knocked on the wall (wall is pretty thin) and walked around the corridor. I DID THINGS okay. (I'm not being mean, I'm just annoyed, so so annoyed)

THIS IS WHAT I WANT TO SAY TO MY NEIGHBOUR

So there you go, there are a few reasons why I need to change my biological clock. I hope I'll succeed. But tell me guys, what keeps you from sleeping early? Rave in the comments below about your sleeping habit so I can feel somewhat-normal :)

Rainy Days Routine

Is spring supposed to be full or rain? (genuine question from someone who has never lived in 4 seasons area)

It has been raining for almost three hours. Yep, rain decided to pour down today on Monday. Monday, where I already scheduled all things and errands to run. Not Sunday, where I just laze around my room. So here I am, sitting on my desk because all my plans got cancelled (by myself).

I need to go to campus to sort things out (and hopefully start studying-ish-you-know). Gracefully woke up before my alarm but can't be f****d and went back to sleep. I woke up at 11 and the sky looks miserably grey. So I think to myself, "Oh well, let's go at 1p.m. today and hopefully the sun is up by then."

I waited, and now is 3p.m. and it's raining. I actually can go and walk alone but it's not safe to walk alone. I do have a bike but when it's raining, would you really want to go on your bike?

And here I am feeling bad because I've been putting off important things (like vacuuming my room) for far too long. Not proud of myself, of course.

Anyway, on to brighter things in life... I actually like rain. It's chilly and it's perfect for snuggling, cuddling (not that I'm doing any of those), or just lazying around. I'm doing the last one while listening to acoustic music and feeling like going back to sleep...seriously I'm just showing you people how lazy I really am now.

Alright, I'm going to stop and hope and pray that it won't rain tomorrow so I can actually do things and be productive.

Don't forget to let me know in the comments below: What you like to do on rainy days?

Break For Now

Heyhey! I'm back for a shorty short time :D

I'm on my spring break now, which might seem like such a big thing, but it's not... The sun was out for a week before the holiday and when the holiday starts the sky turns grey once again.

It's raining now, which is weird because the last time it rained was 2 to 3 weeks ago?

Kelvin filter look alright in this pic hey? :P

Anyway, floormates are starting to turn off the heaters in the hallway and bathrooms now (and posting signs like the above). It's been alright but sometimes it's just really cold like it's still winter.. or maybe that's just because I came from 30-degrees-countries (that's how my friends call it).

Mid semesters are coming in a week or so and I have two on the first day back! (surprise, surprise) And also an assignment in the first week back. Not looking forward to them but I have to start doing things now. Enough of me sleeping around until noon everyday for a week (it is called a 'break' for a reason ;)

So, I wish you guys a great time transiting from summer to fall or winter to spring or sunny to rainy wherever you are!

Lomolife

I feel like I haven't posted my pictures in a while and here we go!
P.S. My film was somewhat jammed and my camera was being a bit fussy so if you hate light leaks, excuse moi..

This might be taken in one of few trips home I took on my gap semester. If you don't already know, I love clouds, sky and plane combination

I went on a trip to Sydney with my friends who kindly let me stayed at her house and took my friend and I around. This is the Quay/City/CBD area. Boats and The Bridge.

...and the famous Sydney Opera House

We also went to The Blue Mountains to see Three Sisters (along with Solitary Mountains and went on the rides which was a lot of fun!)

Lastly,  The Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Bits and Pieces

Hey hey lovelies!

I've been very busy procrastinating lately and just feeling overly tired all the time. I'm going to have my exam soon and they freak me out. On the other hand, I'm just very very lazy and I don't get the incentive (see what I did there?) to study at all, I have no idea why :(

Thought I will share bits and pieces about my days for you guys!

First up, I am a huge fan of Nutella and I eat pretty much everything with it. And, I love bread which makes the best combination with Nutella. Since I am a college kid, I don't have the time and money to do fancy meals (or to cook at all) especially for breakfast. Moreover, it is really hard for me to eat fruit because I always forgot...

Fortunately, I came up with the idea of eating fruit with my breakfast...and I started making my own banana-and-nutella-sandwich! Nothing fancy or new here but holy moley it tastes heavenly! Also, it does not make you hate yourself because even though you eat sugary nutella, you also eat banana/fruit which is really good for your body! You can also use wholemeal/wholegrain/high-fibre bread to make you feel better of yourself :D

I've also been busy with rehearsals (which is one of the greatest thing that happened to me this semester :D) on weekdays at night and on weekends. Last week, CBR decided to cry water and fog everywhere. It was really really gloomy and wet. And... I fell down my bike too (no fun D:)

But later that day, I was walking through campus cutting roads to get to one side from another and came across this gorgeous view. Look at this! It may look gloomy but isn't this so pretty? This is one of the reason why I fell in love.

That is all I have for you all today! I hope you have a lovely month and holiday! Happy summer for my northern hemisphere loves and happy winter for all my southern hemisphere loves!

Wish me luck for my exams!

Heater Y U NO ON

Kembali ke gaya ngeblog jaman jaman baru mulai lagi ya untuk sesaat...

Gila ya dingin banget. Ga bohong. Tadi pagi udah enam derajat celsius aja loh! Dan udah mulai pake baju berlapis...padahal musim dingin masih 1 setengah bulan lagi *brb rebus diri di air panas*

Nah ya disini ada pemanas kan ceritanya. Tapi pemanasnya ga nyala kalo musim panas (go figure). Secara sekarang masih musim gugur, belom musim dingin (tapi dinginnya udah kaya musim dingin di kota lain -_-) jadi ini hall belom nyalain pemanas waktu Maret kemaren.

Tengah-tengah Maret udah mulai jatoh ke 20 awal tuh suhunya. Orang orang udah mulai minta dinyalain pemanasnya kan dan segala macem, tapi karena kalo nyalain pemanas itu berarti listrik (mungkin?) jadi ya ga bakal dinyalain lah ya kan ngirit gitu anak kuliahan........ *cek isi dompet*

Dijanjiinnya sih April awal tuh bakalan dinyalain pemanasnya.

Kalo siang udah mulai 13an suhunya.

Haleluya!!!

Sebagai penutup:

Cantik ya? :)

P.S. Chatime akhirnya buka disini tapi udah ga musim panas.....mengapaaaaaaa

March!

I promise I'm not making this a big deal or anything.... I need somewhere to write and here it goes.

I'm suppose to do my tutes questions now but I'm tired.

I've been here for almost a month now, believe it or not. I haven't felt homesick until yesterday.

Yep, I know it's so late. Maybe it's because almost all the domestic first years get food from home every week? Hahahaha.

Anyway, it's March! Month of birthdays :)

I hope you all are having lots and lots of fun this month because you will!

P.S. Look at how pretty CBR sky is (despite my crappy camera phone)! No edit filter whatever, and you can see the Telstra Tower :D

Welcome Back!

After a brief hiatus, I'm back!

In those very short hiatus, I've accomplished a few things in life. I'm now in the land down under currently studying as a university student (finally!) and I just had my first week of lectures :D

I'm living in a self catered dorm. Not a common choice for first years, I guess. That means, I have to cook all meals myself. Since it's a dorm, we have to share bathroom, which is a new experience to me. Good thing the room is all for yourself and you don't have to share it. My view is pretty awesome as well:

Things are going interesting and I probably have a few stories to tell.

Last Thursday, at 6.20AM, I was woken up by a horrible digital alarm sound. I thought it was my alarm (even though I know for sure it doesn't sound like that) so I tried to get back to sleep. After one or two minutes, I realised that it came from outside. I opened my door and there is a little speaker on the corner of the wall, wailing loudly. Pissed, I came back to my bed.

A few seconds later, I heard people coming out of their rooms. I opened my door and saw people heading to the foyer. My next door neighbour came out looking really confuse. Since we both are new residents, we decided to follow everyone out to the foyer. I took my time to take my jumper and headed out.

When we were there waiting for the senior resident, I realised that I FORGOT TO BRING MY KEYCARD. I went downstairs with everyone else while cursing myself for being so stupid. We were all heading to the parking lot. It was 6.30AM and it was around 10 degrees outside, I was wearing my OFS senior hoodie, tee and shorts. IT WAS FREAKING COLD for a girl who spend all her lifetime in 25 to 35 degree celcius everyday. I was shivering for about half an hour trying to awkwardly move to keep my body warm.

Since it was a fire drill (if you haven't worked that out yet, there you go) we went back upstairs at around 7AM and everyone is saying "good night" to each other. My senior resident was there and talked to us about the drill and how pissed we all are at the time. My SR let me in to my room and not counting it as a penalty because it's a fire drill.

I had a lecture at 11AM that day but I successfully woke up at 10.40AM and decided to not to go to the morning lecture. Luckily, Nadeen (first Indonesian girl friend yay) is on the 4PM lecture so I'm not alone.

It doesn't stop there. Being a clever girl I am, I successfully locked my self out, AGAIN, just a few minutes ago. I was about to take a yoghurt in the kitchenette when I talked to other residents and forgot to leave my door unlocked. Without phone, or anything really, just a spoon. A useless spoon...

I couldn't call my SR nor the duty warden so I decided to knock on his door and he wasn't there. I was panicking because both of my next door neighbours are not in their rooms since yesterday (I guess...). So I asked my other neighbour to help me and call my SR, interrupting his card game just to unlock my door. Lucky I have a very very very nice SR and neighbours.

Yeah, I just write this because I feel stupid and I feel so bad for disrupting people's beautiful weekend...

P.S. Found this in my uni, happy as can be:
