The Person Behind All of These

So... here's just a little about me post just because I'm too lazy to study. BOOM here goes...

I am now 18 years old. I'm just a nerd living my last few months of high school life approximately 560 miles from home and hoping desperately to get a place in my dream uni(s). I'm currently in final year of International Baccalaureate Diploma and my final exams are coming up in less than two weeks. (And there goes my heart attack...)

Most of my spare time is very cleverly spent on the internet, just like most of teenagers around the world. I blog, tweet, facebook, plurk, tumblr (and maybe I have some others I can't remember) just like the other people. I enjoy photography/lomography and I put stuffs on my flickr site. Just to put it out there.

I am also currently a sub-committee in Indonesian Student's Association (Singapore) under the Social and Education Division. We usually have tutoring sessions for our 'pahlawan devisa negara' who are not so lucky in their career but now we're on hiatus, a looong loong hiatus.

Other than that, I could say that I have my heart stuck on music. I'm a bathroom singer-amateur singer, barely know how to play piano properly, starting to learn how to play guitar, struggling to fit my huge fingers on the ukulele frets, and sometimes randomly hitting timpanis with mullets. I listen to different stuffs from the medieval period to the newest thing (just because of the course I'm taking now at school...)

I have a weird sense of humor, I wear glasses, my eyesight is pretty bad and I am a nerd. I read books. I swim but at the same time I eat like a maniac. Some people said that I'm "too Indonesian". I like watching tv series and I love Castle and Bones. When I sleep nothing can hold me down. FYI, I can sleep for 15 hours non-stop. I have curly hair. I procrastinate like a pro. And my English sucks... hahaha.

One last thing.

The beauty of the internet is that people wouldn't know whether those things they read are true or not.

So long. Farewell.

Respecting Music

So, I recently came across this post in a blog that discussed about "EXTREMELY DISSAPOINTING Music Facts" and I just want to talk about it from my opinion if you don't mind reading.

Basically, this person is compating the achievements that nowadays major label artists has een achieving so far with the previous era's major label artists.

For example, this person states that "Ke$ha's Tik Tok sold more copies than ANY of The Beatles' single." and that kind of comparisons. I don't want to link it here so if you want you can go ahead and find it.

But wait...

First of all, I am NOT trying to be cool or hipster or ANYTHING like it. I just want to SHARE my opinion about this post. To be honest, I do listen to music from the previous era as well as nowaday's music. Thus, I can say I listen to both The Beatles and Ke$ha, Katy Perry and Michael Jackson, etc etc.

But this person wrote some things that I can't agree with. For example, he/she wrote, "Barbra Streisand has sold more records than Pearl Jam, Johnny Cash, and Tom Petty combined."

Seriously? Barbra Streisand sold more copies than those artists combined and you said that it is EXTREMELY DISSAPOINTING?

As far as I know, Pearl Jam, Johnny Cash, and Tom Petty are wickedly awesome musicians from rock genre. They make awesome music, very high quality. I appreciate people who like them such as this person who made the post.

But think about it again... Barbra Streisand is one of the most famous pop diva of all time and she has one of the most unique voice that one can found. So, that person who made the post HAS NO RIGHT to diss her like that and compare her (and Celine Dion, another very famous pop diva who has credible talent that are very rare) to people like Ke$ha, Black Eyed Peas, Flo Rida or things like that.

I personally think that Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Pearl Jam, REM, Bob Marley, etc etc are awesome great talented one of a kind worth praises from every person in the world and I do love them and respect them. But one thing, that does not mean that the other awesome artists from other genre (like, pop) are not great in their own way. Just look at Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand, Elton John and others are also wickedly talented and awesome.

They just happened to sing different genres and that does not mean that you can hate on one artist just because you don't like the genre. Learn to appreciate! Music is here to unify us and draw off all the boundaries we have in real life... :D

Enough of me rambling and being weird..
